Marlborough has more than 40 cellar doors, ranging from large wineries to boutique tasting rooms. At Explore Marlborough, our goal is to give you the tools to create an authentic, local wine experience. Check out some of our favourite spots below!

Wairau River Winery
A family-owned winery where the entire family are involved in running the different aspects of the business. Their cellar door is part of the winery restaurant. Try the viognier for something different.

Seresin Estate Winery
Boutique, organic and biodynamic with a small intimate cellar door. Try their stunning selection of wines and their estate grown olive oils. Great views to the mountains.

Framingham Winery
The Reisling is the flagship for this wonderful range of wines. Sample the Montepulciano for something different. In Spring and summer, their walled garden will be in bloom and it’s the perfect place to just sit and enjoy..

Nautilus Estate
Another small but perfectly formed Marlborough winery with a fabulous selection of wines. Try their range of Pinot Noir.

Te Whare Ra
When you visit the Te Whare Ra cellar door it is highly likely you will get to meet one of the owners, Jason or Anna. They are passionate about what they do and the biodynamic wines they are producing. Try their delicious “Toru” wine which is a blend of aromatics.

Forrest Estate Winery
Home of the Forrest Estate Grape Ride. This winery has vineyards throughout NZ so here you can get to try a range of wines from a variety of regions.

Cloudy Bay Winery
One of NZ’s best known wineries. No visit to Cloudy Bay would be complete without trying the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc. Their Te Koko is a unique and delicious wine.

Allan Scott Family Winemakers
Another of Marlborough’s well known family wineries. Visit their cellar door or dine in their winery restaurant. Try the Cecilia Methode Traditionelle at the cellar door.

No 1 Family Estate
The Le Brun family come from 12 generations of French winemakers from Champagne, France so when it comes to Methode Traditionelle they know what they are doing.

Brancott Estate
The Brancott Estate Heritage Centre houses the Brancott Cellar door. This is worth a visit for the building and the views alone. Try the Sauvignon Gris at the cellar for something a bit different.

Bladen Hand Crafted-Wines
We recommend everyone visit Bladen. It is one of the smallest wineries in the valley with a one room cellar door, lovely wines and always one of the family serving on the cellar door. It is a picture perfect spot and often the favourite winery of the day due to the outstanding hospitality of Dave and Chris Macdonald.

Wither Hills
Close to Blenheim. This stunning building has a cellar door, restaurant, viewing tower, barrel hall and a vine library as well as a great selection of wines.

Auntsfield Estate
This small family owned winery is situated on the site of the first grape plantings in Marlborough, planted in the late 1800’s. The cellar door is small and personal and the wines are stunning.

Rockferry Wine
One of our favourite lunch spots but the wines are great, too. Here is a good opportunity to compare wines from Marlborough with those from their vineyards in Central Otago.

Saint Clair Family Estate
Another small but perfectly formed Marlborough winery with a fabulous selection of wines. Try their range of Pinot Noir.

Villa Maria Winery
One of NZ’s largest privately owned wineries. Their cellar door provides the opportunity to sample Villa Maria wines from around the country.

Fromm Winery
When people say to us that they love Pinot Noir then we take them to Fromm. Another of Marlborough’s smaller wineries producing a great range of wines.

Gibson Bridge Vineyard
This might be the smallest cellar door in the valley. These guys are Pinot Gris specialists. On a visit here, you’ll meet the owners, hear their stories and benefit from their wealth of knowledge.

Giesen Wines
Giesen have a wide range of wines with something for everyone. Their delicious vintage platter is one of our regular lunch orders. Always good served with their August oaked Sauvignon Blanc.

Huia Vineyards
Huia is a small organic winery with a lovely range of wines. The chickens meet you outside the cellar door. Try their Hunky Dory aromatic blend for something a little different.

Herzog Wine Cellars
Herzog is well known for it’s restaurant. The wine matched degustation dinner is legendary. They also have a great bistro and a beautiful summer garden to while away a few hours in.
